The FCC’s Consumer and Governmental Affairs Bureau (Bureau) has released its statutorily-mandated 2016 Biennial Report to Congress on the Twenty-First Century Communications and Video Accessibility Act of 2010 (CVAA). The CVAA requires the Commission to take steps to ensure that people with disabilities have access to emerging communications technologies. The CVAA also requires the Commission to submit a report to Congress every two years regarding compliance with the CVAA’s communications accessibility obligations and the extent to which accessibility barriers to new communications technologies still exist. The Report concludes while further work remains to be done,  substantial progress has been and continues to be made in ensuring that both traditional and new communications technologies are accessible to people with disabilities.
