As part of the FCC’s ongoing “Delete, Delete, Delete” deregulatory initiative, the FCC has adopted a Direct Final Rule, which removes 386 outdated, obsolete, or duplicative wireline rules and requirements.  Some of these rules and requirements implemented now-defunct policies from the breakup of “Ma Bell” in 1984.  The rules also pertain to now-defunct topics, including regulatory reporting requirements, distinctions between wireline carriers that are no longer applied, technology that has been eclipsed, and dates pertaining to rate regulation, universal service, pilot programs, and equipment requirements that have since passed.
