The FCC’s Consumer and Governmental Affairs Bureau, Media Bureau, and Wireless Telecommunications Bureau (collectively “Bureaus”) seek comment on whether updates are needed to the Commission’s rules implementing the Twenty-First Century Communications and Video Accessibility Act of 2010 (CVAA).  The CVAA was enacted to ensure that individuals with disabilities could fully utilize communications services and equipment as well as video programming.  In response, the Commission adopted rules to enable access for these individuals to advanced communications services and equipment and video programming by supporting features such as audio descriptions and closed captioning.  Many of these rules have not been updated for many years and given the changes in technology and industry practices, the Bureaus are inviting comments on whether and how these rules should be updated.  Comments are due May 24, 2021 and reply comments are due June 21, 2021.
