The FCC has moved to terminate more than 2,000 official proceedings that according to the Commission have “become dormant and no longer serve a purpose for the American people.” Specifically, the FCC’s Consumer and Governmental Affairs Bureau (CGB or Bureau) has released a Public Notice seeking comment on whether the 2,057 docketed Commission proceedings should be terminated as dormant. The CGB is seeking comment on reasons not to terminate these dockets that have been identified by staff from around the agency as inactive or moot. The Bureau is also seeking comment on other dockets that may no longer be relevant and should be terminated. This public notice is distinct from the agency’s ongoing “In re: Delete, Delete, Delete” initiative, which seeks to identify outdated and overly burdensome regulations that should be repealed.
