The FCC’s Wireline Competition Bureau has released an updated list of locations eligible for Enhanced Alternative Connect America Cost Model (Enhanced A-CAM) support. Enhanced A-CAM is designed to expand broadband access with speeds of at least 100/20 Mbps in underserved rural areas.
The updated list incorporates data from the National Broadband Map, the Broadband Funding Map, and challenges to broadband availability filed by August 1, 2024. The Bureau has also excluded locations already covered by enforceable commitments from other broadband programs made on or before August 30, 2023. While this process is complete in 40 states, it remains ongoing in 10 other states. The Bureau will finalize the list and adjust support amounts once this process is complete nationwide. This interim update aims to provide greater clarity to broadband providers about their service obligations under the Enhanced A-CAM program.
