On August 26, Reps. Andy Feenstra (R-IA), Josh Riley (D-NY), and Barry Moore (R-AL) introduced the Middle Mile for Rural America Act (H.R. 5037), which would reauthorize the Middle Mile Broadband Infrastructure Program (Program) from 2026 through 2031.  The Program was a federal initiative aimed at providing high-speed Internet access to unserved and underserved communities.  The National Telecommunications and Information Administration awarded the final grants under the previous version of the $1 billion program in 2023.  The bill was referred to the House Committee on Agriculture and the House Committee on Energy and Commerce.
