Charter Communications and Cox Communications have announced an agreement to merge, valuing Cox at $34.5 billion. The combined company will operate under the name of Cox Communications, but Charter’s Spectrum brand will launch across Cox’s territory. Cox will also adopt Charter’s sale and service workforce model, which will return Cox’s customer service operations to the U.S. Additionally, Charter will acquire Cox’s commercial fiber and managed IT and cloud businesses and Cox Enterprises will contribute Cox’s residential cable business to Charter Holdings, a subsidiary of Charter.
