As part of its deregulation initiative, dubbed “Delete, Delete, Delete,” the FCC has adopted a Report and Order, which removes from the Commission’s cable rate regulations approximately 77 rules or requirements and eight forms.  The Commission states that many of the Commission’s rules governing cable rate regulation have been rendered obsolete or unworkable due to the sunset of cable programming service tier rate regulation and the passage of time.  The Report and Order aims to: (1) reduce unnecessary burdens on cable operators; (2) exempt small businesses from rate regulation; and (3) modernize the Commission’s rules to account for the sunset of cable programming service tier rate regulation in determining basic service tier rates.
