The FCC has adopted new rules aimed at blocking and removing Chinese government and other untrustworthy actors’ ability to assert control over the country’s wireless equipment authorization process.  The Commission has reviewed currently recognized equipment test labs and found that a number of labs potentially have deep ties to the Chinese Communist Party.  The Commission states that the new rules will ensure that the equipment test labs and telecommunications certification bodies do not have ownership interests that present national security risks, including the risk that they would do the bidding of a foreign adversary.
