The FCC has announced that it is making additional funds available to recipients of the Secure and Trusted Communications Networks Act Reimbursement Program, pursuant to the Servicemember Quality of Life Improvement and National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2025, which authorized $3.08 billion in additional funds for the program. The Commission has borrowed the full $3.08 billion from Treasury as authorized under the statute. Treasury will be reimbursed by the proceeds of the reauction of AWS-3 spectrum that is upcoming.
The Reimbursement Program has been underfunded since its inception with only approximately $1.9 billion available to distribute to recipients. As a result, program recipients have only had access to approximately 40 percent of their funding allocations. With these additional funds, program recipients will receive access to their full funding allocations.
