The FCC will hold its next open meeting on January 29. Accordingly, the FCC plans to consider the following four items:
- An Order and Notice of Proposed Rulemaking to expand the use of geofenced variable power (GVP) unlicensed devices in the 6 GHz band, which would allow these devices to operate with greater power and allow the use of low power indoor access points on cruise ships.
- A Report and Order to create new attestation and disclosure requirements that will increase transparency on foreign adversary control over FCC licenses and other authorizations.
- A Report and Order to clarify the Commission’s foreign ownership rules and foreign investment practices.
- A Notice of Proposed Rulemaking to enhance Internet Protocol (IP) Relay and Video Relay Services (VRS), streamline telecommunications relay services (TRS) requirements, and delete obsolete TRS rules.
