The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has announced the next round of Reconnect funding, totaling up to $1.15 billion. Broadband projects under this program, funded through loans and grants, will be required to provide 100 Mbps symmetrical service. Areas with broadband speeds of less than 100/20 Mbps will be eligible. Notably, differing from previous rounds, for certain projects receiving 100 percent grant funding on tribal lands and in socially vulnerable communities there will be no matching requirement.
The application filing window will open on November 24, 2021 and close on February 22, 2022.
