At the NTIA’s annual spectrum policy symposium, NTIA Administrator Arielle Roth outlined a plan to exceed the legislative mandate of identifying 500 MHz of spectrum for reallocation.  NTIA has already pinpointed the first 5 MHz (1675–1680 MHz) for auction and is studying adjacent bands.  In her statement, Roth emphasized the NTIA’s commitment to assessing four additional bands — 7125–7400 MHz, 1680–1695 MHz, 2700–2900 MHz, and 4400–4940 MHz — highlighting their potential for 5G and 6G applications due to favorable propagation characteristics and bandwidth capacity.  NTIA aims to identify an additional 200 MHz of spectrum within the first year and is leveraging funding from the Spectrum Relocation Fund to accelerate progress, particularly in the 7 GHz band.
