The FCC’s Wireline Competition Bureau is seeking nominations for eight positions on the Universal Service Administrative Company (USAC) Board of Directors. Nominations are due by October 20, 2026, and most positions carry three-year terms ending on December 31, 2029. The open seats represent a range of stakeholder groups involved in the Universal Service Fund, including incumbent LECs, interexchange carriers, competitive LECs, schools, rural health care, low-income consumers, and Tribal communities.
The Bureau emphasizes the importance of nominating candidates with expertise relevant to managing a large and complex organization, such as accounting, finance, auditing, procurement, data management, and information technology. If a stakeholder group fails to reach consensus on a nominee or does not submit a nomination, the FCC Chair may appoint a representative from that industry or non-industry group pursuant to the Commission’s rules.
