CARES Act Directs $16 Billion to FCC and Department of Education for Remote Learning Programs

The FCC and the U.S. Department of Education have announced a series of joint efforts to promote the use of $16 billion in funding from the recently enacted Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act’s “Education Stabilization Fund” for remote learning.  The Education Stabilization Fund consists of two separate funds, the Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER) Fund, which has $13 billion in appropriation, and the Governor’s Emergency Education Relief (GEER) Fund, which has $3 billion in appropriation.
