The FCC’s Wireline Competition Bureau (Bureau) is seeking comment on Far Homes, Inc. d/b/a Tin Can’s (Tin Can) Petition for Declaratory Ruling (Petition) requesting that the Bureau declare that, for the purposes of the FCC’s rules, Tin Can’s service providing restricted access to whitelisted contacts through the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) does not constitute interconnected Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) for purposes of the applicability of VOIP-related provisions of Title II of the Communications Act of 1934, as amended. Alternatively, if the Bureau decides that Tin Can services do not constitute interconnected VoIP, Tin Can requests that the Bureau waive regulatory requirements applicable to interconnected VoIP services for Tin Can’s service.
