The FCC adopted an Order to prevent robocallers from gaining illegal access to phone numbering resources. The Order extends the FCC’s 2023 Second Report and Order, which mandated that only new interconnected VoIP providers with direct access to phone numbers are required to certify and file robocall, public safety, and national security disclosures. Now, all such providers who have authorization to access numbering resources will be required to make robocall related disclosures. In addition to this rule, the FCC is seeking further comment on protecting numbering resources, including on how to reclaim numbering resources and restrict authorizations for providers that pose national security risks.
