FCC Offers Price Cap Carriers $1.675 Billion in CAF Phase II Funding

The FCC’s Wireline Competition Bureau (Bureau) has officially offered model-based Connect America Fund (CAF) Phase II support to price cap carriers in exchange for the deployment of voice and broadband-capable networks in their service areas. The total amount of CAF Phase II support offered is $1.675 billion annually, for six calendar years (2015-2020). Details on the amount offered to each eligible price cap carrier, along with the final Connect America Cost Model (CAM v4.3) results and a list of eligible census blocks are available in the Bureau’s Public Notice. Price cap carriers that have been offered CAF Phase II support have until August 27, 2015 (120 days) to decide whether to accept their offers on a state-by-state basis.
