The FCC has approved a proposal seeking comment on how to update its policies to reduce access to phone numbers by perpetrators of illegal robocalls.  The proposed rules would require VoIP providers applying for direct access to phone numbers to comply with anti-robocalling obligations.  This is part of the FCC’s ongoing efforts to inhibit unwanted robocalls and address issues that have arisen from VoIP software that can enable entities to create robocalls without substantial technical experience and cost.
