The FCC has released a public notice seeking comment on an Emergency Petition filed by Q Link Wireless, LLC (Q Link) for an agency order directing the Universal Service Administrative Company (USAC) to implement machine-to-machine (M2M) interfaces for the National Verifier. Specifically, Q Link is asking the Commission to “immediately issue” an order directing USAC “to implement application programming interfaces (APIs) for the National Verifier that permit Eligible Telecommunications Carriers (ETCs) to exchange information with USAC, including information necessary to establish eligibility, on a machine-to-machine basis when consumers seek to enroll in Lifeline.” Additionally, Q Link wants the FCC to order USAC to implement APIs prior to the hard launch of the National Verifier in the first six states. Comments are due on or before August 10, 2018 and reply comments are due on or before August 27, 2018.
