The FCC has released a Public Notice to refresh the record on rules that were proposed in 2020 to allow the use of additional frequency bands for non-geostationary orbit (NGSO) fixed satellite service (FSS) satellites to communicate with earth stations in motion (ESIMs).  More than five years ago, the FCC permitted NGSO FSS ESIM use from 28.4-28.6 GHz subject to compliance with future rules and deferred consideration of NGSO FSS ESIM use in the 28.35-28.4 GHz band, seeking further comment.  The FCC now seeks to refresh the record and reconsider proposals to permit NGSO FSS ESIM use from 28.35-28.6 GHz. As such, interested stakeholders are invited to update the record by submitting comments in response to the questions and proposals contained in paragraphs 62 to 67 of the 2020 Furter Notice of Proposed Rulemaking.
