IP Transition Rulemaking and Next Generation 911 Set For FCC January Open Meeting

The FCC has released the final agenda for its next open meeting on Thursday, January 30, 2014.  It contains the following four items:

IP Transition: The Commission will consider a Report and Order, Notice of Proposed Rulemaking, and Notice of Inquiry that invites public input on technology transition trials.

Next Generation 911: The Commission will consider a Policy Statement and Further Notice of Proposed Rulemaking concerning the deployment of text-to-911 and other Next Generation 911 applications.

Incentive Auction: The Commission will receive an update on the timeline and project plan for the broadcast television incentive auction.

FCC Process Reform: The Commission will receive a presentation from the Staff Working Group on Process Reform at the FCC.

The meeting is scheduled to start at 10:30 a.m.  Due to the closing of the FCC on Tuesday, January 21, 2014, the Commission is waiving the sunshine period prohibition until 11:59 pm on Friday, January 24, 2014.  Presentations on the agenda items are permitted until that time.  The meeting will be shown online at fcc.gov/live.
