In a statement, Commissioner Michael O’Rielly touted the resignation of Universal Service Administrative Company (USAC) CEO Chris Henderson as “an opportunity for [USAC] to clean up its act.” O’Rielly peppered his statement with critiques against USAC, indicating that it was “not sufficiently accountable to the Commission” and “not meeting the needs of universal service stakeholders or the public, who pay fees to support USAC’s operations.”  The Commissioner also threatened to put “USAC’s functions out for contract” unless he saw “significant and timely improvements.” Chairman Ajit Pai and Commissioner O’Rielly recently placed the spotlight on USAC for its handling of reported waste in the schools and libraries E-rate program.
