The FCC has adopted a Report and Order, Sixth Report and Order, and Further Notice of Proposed Rulemaking in an effort to make greater and more intensive use of the Lower 37 GHz band.  The adopted orders allow the Lower 37 GHz band (37-37.6 GHz band) to accommodate a variety of use cases including IoT, backhaul and backbone links, and supplemental capacity for mobile systems.  Currently, the Lower 37 GHz band is allocated to fixed and mobile services on a primary basis for federal and non-federal use.  The FNPRM seeks comment on additional issues related to use of the Lower 37 GHz band such as whether the FCC should revise the emission limits for Upper Microwave Flexible User Service operations above the 37 GHz band and whether a dynamic sharing mechanism should be considered in the future.
