FCC Commissioner Carr Calls for New Rules to Promote Resilient Wireless Networks

FCC Commissioner Carr, at an event hosted by the Association of Public Safety Communications Officials, called for the FCC to adopt new rules promoting consumer access to resilient wireless networks during disasters.  Commissioner Carr specifically proposes to require wireless providers to participate in the wireless resiliency framework, which is currently voluntary, and expand the framework to cover additional facilities-based wireless providers.  Commissioner Carr also proposes to adopt a new rule requiring providers to establish arrangements necessary to facilitate roaming during a disaster.
