The FCC’s Public Safety and Homeland Security Bureau (Bureau) released a Public Notice, announcing June 12, 2028, as the deadline for commercial mobile service providers participating in Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA) (Participating CMS Providers) to implement multilingual templates that alert originators can choose to send during emergencies. By this date, Participating CMS Providers’ WEA-capable mobile devices must support templates in the 13 most spoken languages in the U.S., English, and American Sign Language (ASL). A publication in the Federal Register previously announced that these rules would take effect June 5, 2028.
