The FCC’s Wireline Competition Bureau has released a report that summarizes the state of the Lifeline marketplace, discusses affordable communications accessibility for low-income Americans, and identifies areas for Commission consideration regarding the transition of the Lifeline program from primarily supporting Lifeline voice services to focusing more on supporting Lifeline broadband internet access service. To create the report, the Bureau reviewed information about the marketplace from the Lifeline administrator, the Universal Service Administrative Company (USAC), and comments submitted by various stakeholders.
