The FCC released a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking and seeks comment on regulatory fees imposed and methodologies used to collect over $416 million to account for the cost of the FCC’s Fiscal Year 2026 salaries and expenses appropriation. The FCC plans to continue to assess broadcast feeds based on the population covered by a full-service broadcast television station, fees for Commercial Mobile Radio Service providers based on the number of “assigned numbers” for each provider, and will assess fees for other service providers, including earth and space stations and radio licenses, on a per station or per licenses basis as outlined in Appendix B. Comments on the FCC’s proposed regulatory fee schedule are due May 28, 2026, and reply comments are due June 12, 2026.
