The FCC has adopted rules to require inmate calling services providers to provide access to all relay services that are eligible for the Telecommunications Relay Service (TRS) fund support.  This rule is applicable to support any correctional facility with 50 or more inmates and that is located in an area with broadband availability.  These new rules also restrict provider charges for relay services and point-to-point video calls, among other cost reducing measures.  The FCC has also adopted a Further Notice of Proposed Rulemaking to seek comment on other action to make telephone services more equitable and affordable for incarcerated people.
