FCC Chair Brendan Carr announced the following seven items to be considered at the next Open Commission Meeting:
- A proposal to encourage the onshoring of call centers that would explore ways to enhance the quality and security of call centers by imposing limits on call volume from overseas call centers, making it easier for consumer calls to be transferred to a U.S. location, requiring proficiency testing for call centers abroad, and more.
- A proposal to reduce robocalls and make it harder for scammers to gain access to numbering resources that would expand certification and disclosure requirements beyond entities with direct access to all providers that receive numbering resources
- A proposal to facilitate the modernization of America’s networks that would make copper line retirement easier by streamlining the existing rules and reducing filing requirements.
- A proposal to increase spectrum available for next-generation space operations that would clarify rules and identify new spectrum bands for use in supporting telemetry, tracking, and command (TT&C) for emergent space activities.
- An order that would strengthen the FCC’s oversight of communications support programs like the Universal Service Fund and Telecommunications Relay Services by revising the rules on suspension and debarment to make it easier to address misconduct.
- A Delete, Delete, Delete order that would update broadcast regulations and remove outdated and obsolete procedures and requirements for broadcast licensees.
- A Delete, Delete, Delete Direct Final Rule that would remove old rules for the Office of Economics and Analytics and the Office of International Affairs to streamline licensing.
A tentative meeting agenda and drafts of each item are available here. The Open Meeting will be held at 10:30 am EDT on March 26, 2026. It can be viewed online here.
