The Federal Communications Commission’s Consumer and Governmental Affairs Bureau has adopted an Order granting a seven-day extension of the comment and reply comment deadlines for a rulemaking proceeding purposed with improving customer service communications and better protecting consumers’ sensitive personal information by limiting the use of foreign call centers.

The Bureau explained that, although extensions are not routinely granted, a brief extension was warranted to allow stakeholders to develop more comprehensive and substantive responses to the issues raised in the rulemaking without significantly delaying the overall proceeding. With the extension, comments are now due June 2, 2026, and reply comments are due June 29, 2026.
