The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) have warned gateway providers facilitating COVID-19 related scam robocalls originating overseas that they must cut off these calls within 48 hours or face serious consequences. The FCC and FTC named SIPJoin, Connexum, and VoIP Terminator/BLMarketing as the problematic gateway providers. The Commissions have demanded that service providers block all incoming traffic from these gateway providers’ networks if they fail to block these COVID-19 related scam robocalls within 48 hours. One such scam robocall campaign has been offering free test kits while another has been offering HVAC cleaning services claiming to help fight COVID-19.
