The FCC has released a Public Notice seeking comment on two petitions filed by Carolina West Wireless, a North Carolina-based mobile wireless provider. Carolina West seeks a waiver of the legacy high-cost support phase-down rules while seeking supplemental USF support to support ongoing operations in areas where it is the sole provider. Carolina West also seeks to expand its Eligible Telecommunications Carrier designation in eight counties in North Carolina that are the subject of its waiver petition and where it is currently providing service, but is designated as a Lifeline-only ETC.
Comments on the Public Notice are due August 11 and reply comments are due August 25.
