President Trump has nominated Nathan A. Simington, a senior adviser at the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA), as a Federal Communications Commission (FCC or Commission) Commissioner to fill the seat being vacated by Commissioner Michael O’Reilly.  This nomination comes after the announcement in early August that President Trump was revoking Commissioner O’Reilly’s renomination.  Some speculate that O’Reilly’s renomination was revoked due to his expressed skepticism regarding President Trump’s Executive Order targeting censorship of large social media companies, which Simington reportedly helped draft.  Simington has been at NTIA since June.  Prior to that he served as counsel for Brightstar Corporation.
