The Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC or Commission) Consumer and Governmental Affairs Bureau (Bureau) has granted a temporary, limited waiver of the Commission’s requirements to support text telephony (TTY) technology over Internet-protocol (IP)-based wireless services to 31 small, rural wireless telecommunication carriers that provide wireless telecommunications services in their local communities in Iowa. The waiver expires June 30, 2020. Petitioners sought relief from TTY requirements that was similar to that granted to other TTY waiver petitioners like AT&T, Verizon, and the Competitive Carriers Association.
