The FCC has released a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) that proposes allowing eligible schools and libraries to apply for E-Rate Program funding to support Wi-Fi hotspots and wireless Internet access services that can be used off-premises.  Because students and educators increasingly rely on remote educational tools and online spaces have become part of the classroom, the FCC seeks to modernize its E-Rate program to support these educational needs.  Comments are due 30 days after the NPRM is published in the Federal Register, which has yet to occur, and reply comments are due 45 days after publication.
