The FCC released a Small Entity Compliance Guide to help broadband providers, non-profits, and local governmental entities understand recent changes to the Broadband Data Collection (BDC) program adopted in the FCC’s Sixth Report and Order. The new rules became effective on July 24, 2026, and September 3, 2026. The guide explains regulatory updates designed to streamline reporting requirements, simplify challenge and audit processes, and reduce compliance burdens while maintaining the accuracy of the National Broadband Map.
The guide highlights the alignment of certain BDC reporting requirements with FCC Form 477 data reporting, streamline Broadband Serviceable Location Fabric challenges, and automate the removal or modification of locations that fail BDC audits or verifications.
