FCC Seeks Data for Video Competition Report

The FCC has issued a Public Notice (Notice) soliciting comments and supporting data for its annual report to Congress on the status of competition in the market for the delivery of video programming. For its Nineteenth Annual Report, which will cover developments that occurred in calendar year 2016, the FCC will continue to use the format developed for the past several reports. The Notice requests data on the market structure, conduct and performance, business models and competitive strategies, and selected operating and financial statistics of multichannel video programming distributors (MVPDs), television broadcasters and online video distributors (OVDs). The Notice also asks for the submission of data to assist the Commission in determining the extent to which developments in the market for customer premises equipment affects competition in the market for the delivery of video programming. Comments in response to the Notice are due on or before October 10, 2017 and reply comments are due on or before November 9, 2017.
