The Federal Communications Commission’s Public Safety and Homeland Security Bureau (Bureau) has issued the final public notice in a series announcing updates to the FCC’s Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) Text-to-911 Readiness and Certification Registry (Registry).  The Registry provides notice of the effective readiness date of those PSAPs for which the Bureau has received updated information.  The date of PSAP notification triggers the six month deadline in the Commission’s rules for covered text providers to begin routing 911 text messages to requesting PSAPs.  While the Bureau will no longer announce updates to the Registry by public notice, it will continue to update the Registry “on a regular basis.”  The Registry can be viewed at http://www.fcc.gov/encyclopedia/psap-text-911-readiness-and-certification.
