The FCC has adopted a Third Report and Order, Memorandum Opinion and Order, and Third Further Notice of Proposed Rulemaking as part of its continued efforts to make available millimeter wave spectrum (i.e., bands at or above 24 GHz) for 5G, Internet of Things, and other wireless broadband services.  The item finalizes rules for the 24 GHz band and denies petitions for reconsideration relating to the Lower 37 GHz and 42 GHz bands.  The item also solicits comment on allocating additional spectrum in the 26 GHz and 42 GHz bands for flexible terrestrial wireless use, sharing mechanisms in the Lower 37 GHz band, and earth station siting criteria for the 50 GHz band.  Comments are due by September 10, 2018 and reply comments by September 28, 2018.
