WCB Extends Lifeline Waiver for Additional Year

The FCC’s Wireline Competition Bureau has issued an Order extending the waiver pausing both the phase out of Lifeline support for voice-only services and the increase in Lifeline minimum service standard for mobile broadband data.  The Bureau extended the waiver for an additional year, thus the pause will expire on December 1, 2024.  The WCB has decided to grant this waiver extension given that the FCC has neither had the opportunity to consider the recommendations from the USF Report nor analyze the inaugural Affordable Connectivity Program transparency data collection, which provide good cause to maintain the status quo.
