The FCC has released a Public Notice seeking comment on a petition for rulemaking filed by Somos, Inc. seeking a rulemaking to modernize the FCC’s numbering assignment, administration, and routing rules. The Wireline Competition Bureau seeks comment on this petition and whether the FCC should replace outdated numbering rules to help facilitate the transition to all-IP based networks. Comments are due January 7, 2026 and Reply Comments are due February 6, 2026.
