The FCC’s Wireless Telecommunications Bureau (WTB) and Office of Engineering and Technology (OET) have extended the deadline for “first wave” proposals from prospective Spectrum Access System (SAS) Administrators and Environmental Sensing Capability (ESC) Operators by one month to May 15, 2016.  Following the application and designation process, SASs and ESCs will provide essential coordination and sensing components necessary for future multi-stakeholder operations in the 3.5 GHz Band, including the new Citizens Broadband Radio Service. The extension was granted to allow prospective SAS Administrators and ESC operators to more thoroughly address the complex issues raised in 3.5 GHz proceeding.
