The U.S. Supreme Court has ruled 6-3 that Aereo’s streaming television service violates U.S. copyright laws.  This ruling is a huge win for Television Broadcasters who argued that Aereo’s services violate their copyrights and that Aereo’s service was detrimental to their businesses.  The Court found that Aereo’s service is substantially similar to the services provided by Cable companies, and Aereo must pay Broadcasters for access to their content.  Some broadcasters had threatened to remove their signals from the air, and move to cable-only service if the Court ruled in favor of Aereo.
