The FCC’s Wireline Competition Bureau has authorized $16,713,875 in additional Connect America Fund (CAF) Phase I second round support in response to the modified elections of AT&T and Windstream Communications (Windstream).  Following the Phase I Challenge Resolution Order, price cap carriers that made conditional elections of support were allowed to modify them in light of the resolution of challenges contained in the order.  Both carriers submitted modified elections.  Accordingly, the Bureau has authorized $5,248,300 in additional Phase I support for AT&T in exchange for AT&T’s commitment to deploy broadband-capable infrastructure to 6,772 additional locations.  The Bureau also authorized $11,465,575 in additional Phase I support for Windstream in exchange for Windstream’s commitment to deploy to an additional 13,273 locations.
