FCC Streamlines Burdensome Tariff Filing Rules

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC or Commission) announced the adoption of two rules that eliminate unnecessary regulatory burdens. The first rule allows carriers to cross-reference their own tariffs and those of their affiliates, that are now easily accessed by using hyperlinks. The second rule eliminates the requirement for price cap carriers to file a “short form tariff review plan,” 90 days before the effective date. The early submission of such information has become needless due to electronic filings. In totality, these rules recognize the ability of parties to submit electronic filings as opposed to paper filings.

These rules will take effect 30 days after publication of a summary of the Report and Order in the Federal Register.
