NG-911 Bill Introduced in Senate

Senators Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) and Bill Nelson (D-FL) have introduced legislation (S. 2061) in the U.S. Senate to accelerate the deployment of next-generation 911 (NG-911) services. Specifically, the legislation calls for an expansion of an existing federal grant program designed to help state and local governments deploy NG-911 systems. In addition to increasing federal support for NG-911 deployment, the legislation also would require studies on how to insulate such systems from cyberattacks and to make them more resilient in natural disasters and other catastrophes.
