The FCC has again extended its waiver of the push notification requirements in Sections 15.37(j) and 15.711(i) of its rules that fixed and Mode II personal/portable white space devices and white space databases originally were required to meet by December 23, 2016.  These rules required certain newly certified unlicensed white space devices to be capable of accepting more frequent updates from database administrators regarding changes in spectrum availability at a given location in order to avoid interfering with licensed services.  The requirements were originally scheduled to take effect in late 2016 but were temporarily waived until September 30, 2017 in order to give the FCC time to resolve various reconsideration petitions. The rules will now go into effect March 31, 2018 or when the Commission takes final action on the pending reconsideration petitions.
