The FCC’s Wireless Telecommunications Bureau and Office of Engineering and Technology have issued a Public Notice announcing that the current manual portal system to protect certain federal facilities from Citizen Broadband Radio Service operations in the 3.5 GHz band is being replaced by an automated system, the Telecommunications Advanced Research and Dynamic Spectrum Sharing System.

In the 3.5 GHz band, federal facilities are generally protected by portal-activated dynamic protection areas and federal operations must use a scheduling portal to schedule operations with the certified SAS administrators.  SASs have been directed to use this new automated portal once it is activated.  The WTB and OEA also announced that a new federal facility has been added to the list of protected facilities operated by the DoD.
