The FCC released a Public Notice announcing that certain equipment previously on the FCC’s Covered List has received Conditional Approval from the Department of War, determining that the equipment does not pose an unacceptable risk to national security. This means that the exempted equipment may be sold in the United States. Netgear, which is based in the U.S., but has devices made in Asia, received an exemption to sell new Wi-Fi routers and mesh models. Adtran received an exemption for service delivery gateway class routers, used in homes and small businesses. Certain Aircraft System technology was also exempted. Specifically, the FCC granted exemptions to the following:

  • Sees.ai v.USA. 1.0 Uncrewed Aircraft System (until December 31, 2026)
  • Netgear, Inc.’s Nighthawk consumer mesh, mobile and standalone routers (R, RAX, RAXE, RS, MK, MR, M and MH series), Orbi consumer mesh, mobile and standalone routers (RBK, RBE, RBR, RBRE, LBR, LBK and CBK series), cable gateways (CAX series) and cable modems (CM series) (until October 1, 2027)
  • Adtran Inc.’s Service Delivery Gateway (SDG) class routers (until October 1, 2027)
